I’m a sucker for classic Nintendo games. I’m also a sucker for games that are recreated to look and feel like classic Nintendo games. Oh, and in case you didn’t know, I am also a sucker for games that are cheap. As in $1.00 cheap.
Enter Avaglide, the upcoming Xbox Live Indie Game by Haiku Interactive. It’s an Avatar Gliding Game that looks so similar to Pilotwings I reverted back to childhood for a few moments.
Avaglide has 4 modes of play. They are Free Flight, Ring Rush, Star Smash, and Delivery Dash. Free flight is what it sounds like, Ring Rush is a ring-race, Star Smash involves collecting bronze, silver, and gold stars, earning points and extending your time limit, and Delivery Dash has you flying over targets while dropping crates as close to the center as possible. Along with that there are online leaderboards allowing you to challenge your friends to beat your high score.
There are going to be 3 levels through which you are able to play all 4 modes on. Razor Tooth Cove, Forsaken Lagoon, and Capricorn’s Throne. Check out the image gallery to see them in order.
While there doesn’t seem to be a set release date, it will cost 80 Microsoft Points and should be released within the next couple of weeks. Seems to me like inexpensive downloadable games are the future of the industry.
Time to go play Pilotwings!!!
